1-1-2

GAME - WORLD - LEVEL

This level is once again split into three main areas (as shown below). The red and blue areas are both places that (in a two player game) the two players mainly reside in, but in this level it's a lot more weighted towards the red zone. The pink zone the connection point between these areas.

The recipe in this level is almost the same as the last. It's still Soup, but there's Tomato as well as Onion in this one. Get 3 of whichever one the recipe calls for, chop each of them, put them in the pot and wait for them to cook, put them on a plate and serve them.

There is a twist that isn't shown on the level picture, and that is the pedestrians walking right through the Pink Zone throughout the level. This is an interesting way of adding a little challenge.

The areas for these activities aren't split equally between the areas in this level. The ingredients can only be retrieved in the Blue Zone and that's also where the dishes are delivered, but everything else can and/or should be done in the Red Zone. So it's not really feasible for a player to stay over there for the whole duration (at least not in a two player game). But that means the table at the edge only really serves to hinder the players. Even in a game with more than 2 players, it still doesn't really make a lot of sense for a player to stay over in the Blue Zone.

I have to admit, when I first played this level, I didn't realise you could go along the pavement at the top and bottom, which makes it a lot easier to grab ingredients and chop them. That also leads me into my strategy for this level, one player stays in the Red Zone, washes dishes and makes the soup, while the other uses the bottom to go between grabbing ingredients and chopping (and also taking dishes to the delivery spot when they are ready). There's also a fun little mechanic that can be exploited at the beginning, two players can both chop one thing at the same time to speed up the process, and since the players would be on opposing sides of the chopping board this would be really easy to do at the start, and maybe even throughout the level if players are skilled enough. However, both players would still have quite a bit on their plates (pun intended) so this might not always be possible. The player at the bottom also has the challenge of avoiding the pedestrians on top of their tasks!

This has a little more complexity in it's layout and it isn't a simple back and forth, and I like that about it! I prefer this level to the first level, it's a fairly nice next step in terms of difficulty! Nice!
